Siddha system of medicine (Tamil Medicine) is one of the pioneer medicine originated from Tamil Nadu. It has been formulated for the benefit of human community by Siddhars, whose period of existence cannot be accurately ascertained. The word Siddha is derived from the word "SIDDHI" which means an object to be attained or perfection or heavenly bliss. Siddhars are divine personalties of complete perfection in all respects and masters of Attama Siddhi.
Siddha System of medicine is a unique medical system of Tamil medicine. Unlike other system of medicine, it treats both body and mind and cures the root cause of the disease i.e., complete cure is obtained.
The life expectancy has definitely gone up but at the same time the number of related diseases have come up. A number of diseases are associated with the life style. In this context, the solution for this calamity can be a cure only by Siddha system of medicine. The specialities and
uniqueness of Siddha are many. For the question 'whether it is possible to postpone death?', the answer by Siddhars is "possible" and explained in detail the way and means for it i.e., Muppu, Kaya Kalpas etc. By Siddha, it is possible to mutate human fundamental cell as to our requirement and prevent the old-age degeneration disorders, congenital diseases disorders, etc. which is impossible in other medical field. It is our great advantage that siddhars have formulated thousands of medicines for all diseases. There is a lot of scope if we explore the medicines by research, Siddha medicines will be spread all over the world for the benefit of humanity.
Now-a-days,
Siddha Medical Colleges are run both by the Govt. and private sectors not only in Tamil Nadu, but also in other states like Kerala and country like Sri Lanka.
Our institution is conducting BSMS degree course being affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai and recognised by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, New Delhi. It is 4 years since our inception in 2001 in a sprawling campus with a furnished building for the college at Poonthandalam, West Tambaram about 9 Kms from Tambaram Railway station. The college has 13 departments and all the departments are well equipped with necessary infrastructure to facilitate the curriculum in an effective manner. |
